While watching Queen Seon Deok, it reminds me of the Chinese drama Empress Feng of the Northern Wei Dynasty – a similarly strong woman just like Queen Seon Deok. Initially I was attracted to this drama because I heard they had Hua Mu Lan the legendary heroine in the story as well, but then the story is about Empress Feng as the female lead character, and as I began watching the drama, I was amazed by Empress Feng’s wisdom and strength, and how she overcame all difficulties and obstacles for the sake of her people. I really admire her heart, as big as the ocean (just like Queen Seon Deok), and she too has the qualities, wisdom and strength to become ‘king’ of her times. The story of empress Feng is very touching, and unlike other chinese history dramas, it is not boring, and the pacing just right. Get the DVDs with english subtitles if you are interested too!
